I wish I could have a tiny place to myself. 2 rooms, bedroom and bathroom. That would be fantastic. I am fine with 2 of them, but there is one just one that is annoying as all hell.

I have just that now, and it's amazing. Unfortunately, paying rent does suck, but it's only about 30-40% more expensive than living with 3-4 roommates, which I was not going to do again. For once, my living space is clean, my bathroom is in order, my kitchen is stocked, and my working space is clear. I love it.

My roommate has a girlfriend with a house, and he just lives there all the time. I have the room to myself 99.9% of the time, it's great.

Dude get your own apartment next year, it's amazing. I have a 300 sq. ft. apartment to myself: separate kitchen and bathroom, no random alarm clocks going off, everything's (relatively) clean, no drunk roommates loudly stumbling in at 3:30am with their idiot friends. Only thing that sucks is like GhostZ said, it's a wee bit more expensive, and grocery store trips are actually more expensive since you can't buy in bulk. Still totally worth it though.

Roommates are temporary. Find roommates with a lot going on so they're never home unless sleeping or studying.

I thought so too initially but I still fit a couch, recliner, and full-size bed in the main room along with a TV stand and coffee table. Bathroom and kitchen are a little tight but overall it's really not a bad setup at all, especially for the price and how close it is to campus; it's like a two-minute walk from all my classes so I'll sacrifice some space to not have to take a bus halfway across the state like a lot of other kids do.

I am thinking about living alone next year, despite it being more expensive. Plus I could blast music and exhaust sounds all day long! I really want something close to campus I lived off campus last year, it was turrible. If I woke up a little late, I wouldn't want to go to class cause it is a 15 minute bus ride then a 10 minute walk to class, instead of a 10 minute walk...

That is beautiful. I am assuming you are in a dorm? First year right?

I am really good friends with one of them, and we get along just fine, if we have a problem with what we are doing we just say it up front to each other, but we never do. The other one is quite but a bit of a dick, at least he is clean. The 3rd one is the worst. . . I don't like him.

I luckily have my own bedroom where I spend most of my time. They make a mess real quick, which isn't too annoying but I asked one of them to help take out the garbage(which I have done everytime) cause it was overfilling and he said no. . . you serious? He then said he took the dishes out of the dish washer so he did work. Ugh. I don't even fill up their trash or use their dishes.

Well that's good. I'll be here for a total of 5 years, for a meh major that'll hopefully pay for cars.

Accounting. I'm good at it, but I like cars a lot more.

Why not engineering or engineering tech? Lots of car things(and lots of non car things as well).

Because my school doesn't offer it and I'm too lazy to spend another year and write several essays for another school.

True, but it might be worth it. Do you despise accounting? If not then probably not. I am switching into engineering this semester(I have basically done the first 2 years of it without even being in the program), let me tell you it is a pain to do it in my school. So just consider that.

No I don't hate it, which is why I don't care either way. So I'll just stay here and just AutoX the shit out of my car.

Always a good option. I am about an hour away from a good autocross, but I need my car here, which I don't have. I haven't autocrossed in almost a month. Just two more weeks though!
What happened to the red one?!?

If you start looking you now you could find some pretty decent places. I'm on Chauncey so my walk to ME is like yeah ten minutes, and there are a lot of smaller apartments and stuff in the area you could probably find. Rent's $600 which is about average for studios this close to campus, but there were a few cheaper ones I looked at that didn't have off-street parking. Really just depends.

600 dollars for a single person apartment close to campus? I gotta start looking now! That isn't as bad as I expected, I was thinking like somewhere around 9oo dollars. I don't mind if there is no parking.

Check out BoilerApartments.com, that's where I found mine. It's Purdue-specific so you only get ones that are close to campus, plus their search engine is a lot better than the other websites anyways. Seemed like the nicer apartments start around $600 but don't get much more expensive (the nice ones above Qdoba on Northwestern weren't even $900).

Replace the roommate that annoys you. Having your own apartment when you're young may sound like a great idea, but it'll just turn you into a lonely hermit. Assuming you don't get married in your early 20's, you'll probably find yourself in you very own apartment for at least a couple of years, during which time, you'll find yourself wishing you had a roommate at least once. Enjoy the camaraderie while you can.
